Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Grendon Underwood Combined School.

I am delighted to be the new Headteacher of Grendon Underwood Primary School. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen to continue to build upon the success the school has already achieved under the previous leadership

I joined Grendon in 2017 as the Reception teacher and Head of EYFS, having previously taught in a three form entry school in Aylesbury. I have now been working with children in a variety of settings for the past 30 years.  Being a mother of 3 children, I am very much aware of the responsibility that the staff and I have in ensuring that the highest standard of teaching and learning is achieved. We have a hugely committed team and wonderful children, which of course, is a great place for any new head to start!

The needs of the children are always paramount in life and decision making within a school. I strongly believe in providing the children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to grow and develop positively in a variety of ways. I think it is crucial to involve the children and their families as partners in their education. I am also keen on building a whole school community which thrives on mutual respect and values positive relationships.

I know how vital working in partnership with parents really is in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. As key educators in your children’s lives, I feel that it is important that you have a voice and that as a school we are approachable and allocate time to listen to your concerns, worries or thoughts about the school.

You can be assured that as Headteacher, I will strive to create the best education for your child/children whilst they are members of our school family.

We have a unique site, described by those who visit as a ‘Tardis’, with unrivalled space for our children.

I hope this website gives you a flavour of the breadth of learning opportunities children experience at Grendon Underwood, if you would like to know more about our school please arrange a visit and see for yourself but until then please check out our virtual tour here

The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Typically, pupils behave well, enjoy learning and make good progress. The school is a happy, caring place. Pupils look out for one another and know to treat others with respect, regardless of background or other difference.” (Ofsted Report 2018)

Testimonials

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of the teachers involved in making the Young Voices Choir happen. I know they have had to put in more time outside of their normal hours and then spent a long day chaperoning all the children yesterday. It was such a fantastic experience and will hopefully be a lifetime memory, to have sung on stage with a celebrity and to know there is going to be a single and a video she can watch is great. The whole show was fantastic and not everyone can say they have sung in such a big arena in that level of production. “
