A Warm Welcome to Muddy Boots Nursery!

Choosing the right nursery to meet your child’s needs can be a complex decision and an important one for both parents and children.  Please take your time and explore what our nursery can offer you and your child.  Muddy Boots is very much part of Grendon School life so do take time to find out about the school as well.

Our Ethos

At Muddy Boots Nursery we provide a friendly, relaxed, safe and secure environment for children. We offer a child-centred approach where children are encouraged to develop their individuality, creativity, independence and self-confidence led by caring and highly skilled staff. We support the children so they feel positive in all areas of their lives and learning.  We are a Growth Mindset Nursery and our values and motto are the same as the school.

Admissions

At Muddy Boots we currently care for children between the ages of 2-4. The numbers and ages of children admitted to the nursery comply with the legal space requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

We take the following matters into account when prioritising and deciding on admissions:
●   Availability of places, taking into account the staff: child ratios, the age of the child and any registration requirements
●   Children who have siblings who are already with us
●   When the application is received (extra weight is given to those who have been on the waiting list the longest)
●   The nursery’s ability to provide the facilities necessary for the welfare of the child, including appropriate staffing arrangements
●   A child requiring a full-time place may have preference over one requiring a part-time place.
●   Any extenuating circumstances affecting the child’s welfare or the welfare of his/her family.

We operate an inclusion and equality policy and ensure that all children have access to nursery places and services irrespective of their gender, race, disability, religion or belief or sexual orientation of parents.

Prior to a child attending nursery, parents must complete and sign a contract and registration form. These forms provide the nursery with personal details relating to the child. For example, name, date of birth, address, emergency contact details, parental responsibilities, dietary requirements, fees and sessions, contact details for parents, doctors contact details, health visitor contact details, allergies, parental consent and vaccinations etc.

Funding

In England, some 2-year-olds and all 3 and 4-year-olds are eligible for 15 hours funded early education and childcare.

In addition, some 3 and 4-year-olds are eligible for up to an additional 15 hours. This is for 38 weeks a year but may be stretched to enable you to claim fewer hours over more weeks.

The date on which your child can start claiming 15 hours of funded childcare depends on when their birthday is:

Child’s Birthday

When you can start claiming:

1 January to 31 March Summer Term (from 1 April)
1 April to 31 August Autumn Term (From 1 September)
1 September to 31 December Spring Term (From 1 January )

What is 2-year-old funding?

Based on a range of criteria the funding gives your child up to 15 hours a week of learning opportunities.

This gives your child the chance to mix with other children and try out different activities. It also gives you, the parent, 15 hours a week to study, return to or look for work.

What is 3 and 4-year-old funding?

Universal Funding

Every child that is 3 or 4 years old is automatically entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare the term after their 3rd birthday.

Extended Funding

The additional 15 hours funding is also known as the ’30 hours funded childcare’.

This is an extension of the 3 and 4-year-old funding. Unlike the universal entitlement, you must match the eligibility criteria.  If you are found to be eligible you will be given a validity code.  This will let you claim up to an additional 15 hours.

In order to receive extended funding in particular terms, the following dates apply:
